Physical coatings are created through methods like sputtering (magnetron, DC, RF) and evaporation
(thermal, electron beam), which deposit thin films on substrates. Plasma spraying is employed for
thicker coatings, offering enhanced wear resistance and improved thermal stability. Various Physical
Vapor Deposition (PVD) techniques, including vacuum deposition and ion plating, are explored to
provide coatings with high-quality finishes. These methods are commonly used in industries like
electronics, aerospace, and automotive for applications requiring durable, corrosion-resistant, and
heat-resistant surfaces. Physical coatings are ideal for semiconductors, optical coatings, and hard
coatings where precision and performance are crucial.
